Fall in Paris
Paris is wearing the autumn now.
As a guide, an observer and admirer of the city, I admit – this “golden” time fits Paris very well! To see best the way this season decorates the capital I would recommend visiting its most beautiful gardens. And here, I assure you, Paris has certainly something to offer!
This Sunday morning my hunting for autumn beauty begins in the 1st arrondissement. Here I am, in front of the former Royal Park called the Tuileries Garden. This one represents today the real French style: the magic formula of symmetry, order, and perspectives.
Initially, the idea of the garden belonged to Catherine de' Medici the famous French queen of Italian origins. Throughout history Paris rejoiced often the esthetic influence of the best Italian artists. The Tuileries was not an exception. From the 13th century, the factories for the production of tiles were located there. It explains the origins of the name– tiles in French is “tuile”.
This place is worth seeing in all seasons, but it is especially spectacular in autumn. Even at this time of the year, its long paths are lined with colorful flowers, and the eyes of the visitor are easily attracted by the multicolor aspect of the chestnut trees, rose-bays, palm trees, camphor, and pomegranate trees.
A few steps away, another royal garden appears in front of me, the one of the Royal Palace or Palais-Cardinal. To feel the “déjà vu” when you walk here is no mistake. The episodes of Mission Impossible Fallout with Tom Cruise were filmed just where you’re standing now!

On the other side of the Seine in the 6th arrondissement is the Luxembourg Garden. Here again, the touch of the Italian “hand” is omnipresent. It was projected in 1612 by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France, for her new residence. The queen was inspired by the memories of Boboli the garden where she played when a child in Florence.
Welcome to the paradise full of lawns, tree-lined promenades, flowerbeds, basins, and picturesque Medici Fountain. Look around; – the defile of the most famous women in the history of France mustn’t escape your attention!
Parisians call the garden in a very sweet way – “Luco”. A calm atmosphere and peaceful refuge are guaranteed!

I’ll finish this autumn walk with the Jardin des Plantes.
The term “Jardin des Plantes “ is its official name today, but earlier it was called the Royal Garden of the Medicinal Plants. The creation dates back to the reign of Louis XIII to promote the study of natural sciences and of course to provide the king with phytotherapy if needed.
Set in length, the Jardin des Plantes de Paris is the perfect place to take a stroll in autumn. This large botanical space has specialized gardens and greenhouses where hundreds of plant species grow from March till late November. Incredible show!
