Sunday walk in Paris.
I love Sunday walk in Paris! I adore it! Unlike the other days in the week, when the streets are overcrowded, and life is chaotic, Sunday brings calm and peace to the city. In the same fashion appear the cafes bars, streets, and parks. In reality, the city exudes a scent of freedom and harmony. At least that’s the way it appears to me.
However, be ready to meet the cyclists cutting you in the streets. Since Paris has become very friendly towards the activity thanks also to the eco-oriented policy of its mayor Ann Hidalgo. So if you like cycling as I do, you’ll be surprised by the advantages of it when visiting Paris.
Here a couple of them:
- to cross freely the famous Place Vendome (see the photo of the article) which is almost deserted on Sundays. You’ll recognize the piazza by the immense column in the center erected to commemorate Napoleon's victory in Austerlitz.
- to enjoy a beautiful view of the original and luxurious Ritz Hotel, one of the best hotels in the world! One of the most expensive, that’s for sure (the price for the suite is 12,500 euros per night by the way!) This is the hotel where Princess Diana had her last meal with Dodi Al Fayed during that tragic summer. This fact makes it so attractive and visited.
Moreover, inside the hotel, there's a nice bar named after the great writer Ernest Hemingway who said once: "when in Paris the only reason not to stay at the Ritz is if you can't afford it. It has suites with the names of their former occupants, such as Coco Chanel suite, where the legendary stylist lived for 35 years! And her atelier where she worked actually was just in front of the hotel (exists still today) 5 minutes walk. No metro, no traffic, lucky woman, isn’t it?!

Certainly such a cozy and thematic restaurant like “Un Dimanche à Paris” is just the place to be on Sunday (reopens on the 3d of September 2020 by the way) with its charming tea salon, exquisite cuisine, and delicious patisserie. If you still have time and energy you can explore some hidden gems of Paris after! Not only our stomach but the brain also need some food! Sunday in Paris is destined for those who have in mind walking at their own pace and having some rest from the chaotic life and rushing hours of the big city.
